THE WAIT THAT FELT LIKE FOREVER – A FARMER’S REWARD
A week ago, my Jersey cow was due for calving, but the expected day came and went with no signs of labor. One day turned into two, two turned into three, and before I knew it, an entire week had passed. Anxiety slowly crept in as I remembered the old farmers’ belief that a delayed calving often results in a bull calf. Despite the uncertainty, I remained hopeful. Then, on the morning of June 1st, everything changed. Labor began at 6 a.m., and within hours the moment of truth had arrived. As the calf was safely delivered, there was only one question on my mind: would it be a bull or a heifer? The answer brought a smile I could not hide.
